We love the winter, brisk, fun, the opposite of our downhill home. The kids love it too, scooting over to Big Bear for snowboarding. We live and love California, but the mountains in winter are a treat… there is nothing like it. You’ve never seen so many stars as a crisp clear winter evening”.
“Summers are a dream in the mountains, cool nights, pleasant daytime, not like the blazing temperatures at my home down the hill. Kids swim and ski every day. We walk and take hikes, outdoor dining… doesn’t get better”.
WHAT’S YOUR LINE?
Back in the 1980s Lake Arrowhead was a seasonal resort, about 55%-60% of sales in the warm half of the year, 40%-45% was the cold half of the year. Milder weather, less snow and ice has changed the public taste. Winter is special… the fourth season.
There is only a three percent difference in sales over the past five years; 860 cold half sales versus 891 warm half sales. Staying on the market is a plus for wise sellers.
There are fewer homes for sales in the winter as some respond to old memories suggesting a home should sit quietly for the winter… nobody is looking… Wrong. For those who remain on the market there is less competition although more owners are savvy to the growth of winter sales.
